The Flipper Zero miniature pentester tool has received a major update to version 1.0. New features include increased battery life, faster Bluetooth data transfer, faster NFC card reading and JavaScript support for developers
After three years of development, Flipper Zero has finally received a major update to version 1.0.This tiny, toy-like multifunctional tool for pentesters and geeks is now even more powerful and useful thanks to a number of new features.
Main changes in update 1.0
Improved battery life. One of the nicest new features is the vastly improved battery life. The Flipper Zero can now operate in standby mode for up to a month without recharging, which is especially useful for those who use the device sporadically but want it always ready to go.
Fast data transfer. Bluetooth data transfer speeds with Android devices have been doubled. This means that interactions with the Flipper Zero will now be faster and smoother. For iPhone owners, the news is less pleasant – the developers are still working on improving BLE connection with iOS.
Faster NFC card reading. Flipper Zero now reads NFC cards up to three times faster, significantly speeding up NFC card handling. In addition, support has been expanded to 20 different RFID protocols and 89 sub-GHz radio protocols.
New opportunities for developers
One of the most awaited features is JavaScript support for creating applications.
Previously, you had to know C or C++ to develop for Flipper Zero, but now you can use simpler and more common JavaScript. This makes the platform more accessible to more developers.
How to update your device
You can update the Flipper Zero firmware to version 1.0 via the qFlipper app on your computer or via the iPhone and Android mobile apps.
